So ….. I was scrolling through Instagram, very very bored, when I saw this image.

The weird dude in me asked a very important question. When will the chickens take over?

Ok, So how many chickens are there? Thankfully someone did the math for me. In 1961 there were just over 3 billion people worldwide (data from World Bank). In 2016, the human population was almost 7. 5 billion. This means that in 1961, there were 0.0024 chickens per person, or one chicken for about 400 people globally, whereas in 2016 there were 8.82 chickens for every person.

So 8.82 chickens per person, They already have the numbers, what they lack is size. Let's dig into it.

So I arranged the 3 data points into a nice little data frame.

Now I fit a curve to this data and extracted a quadratic equation to define the curve:

Now I extrapolated the data till the year 5000

DONE!!!!!.

Let's see some key points in the timeline

>> YEAR: 2020

Expected Chicken weight: 6.13 kg

Situation: Pandemic stikes, Cant go out. I am locked in a room. I seriously question my mental stability as much as the person reading this article.

You lookin’ at me?

>> YEAR: 2100

Expected Chicken weight: 23.65 kg

Situation: Isolated reports of groups of chickens attacking humans. Government issues shoot on sight notice.

>> YEAR: 2212

Expected Chicken weight: 68kg

Situation: Chickens have attained the weight of an average human. They overwhelming our soldiers with sheer size and numbers. The future looks bleak. The Mayans were right, we read the calendar wrong (forgot daylight savings). It was not 2012, it is 2212.

`>> YEAR: 2237

Expected Chicken weight: 82kg

Situation: All hope is lost. The chicken weighs as much as Lalettan. There is no hope. All looks bleak. Humanity is defeated.

>> YEAR: 4518

Expected Chicken weight: 6300kg

Situation: Chickens have taken over as the true dominant species of earth. Each chicken weighs as much as an elephant. The world is quiet at night, not so much at dawn.
